Sod

Quality Sod for Your Yard

If you want a dramatic transformation without waiting, sod is the way to go. With sod, you're getting fully-grown grass installed across your yard. Since it's already grown, you've already got a full, green yard to work with.

We don't produce our own sod, but we have partnered with several local sod farms. The sod raised on these farms comes from an elite blend of seeds, which make the Kentucky bluegrass we install more resilient. It's resistant to drought and disease, and it's tolerant of heavy traffic.

We'll help you pick the best sod for your needs. We offer options grown in both dark block soil and peat soil. You'll want to consider your soil, sunlight, and overall traffic needs. You don't have to worry about picking the right option. Our professional landscapers are ready and willing to help!

Seeding

Exquisite Seed for Rich Green Grass

Sod offers your yard a quick turnaround, but seeding is a cost-effective way to restore a green lawn. Seed can also be a good choice to fill in gaps in an established lawn or to thicken up a damaged yard. Is seed the best choice for your yard? Let the professionals at Maple Leaf Inc help you decide.

We use the finest seed available to us, and we'll look at your yard and your needs to find the best option. When we install seed, we'll sow it by hand raking or with a machine in some cases. We'll leave you with a 5-pound bag of seed for follow-up care. Our reputation for quality and customer service is extremely important to us!

Let Maple Leaf Inc go the extra mile for you. Let's talk about your yard and see if seeding is a good option for you. Free quotes are available within a week.

When to Water New Sod

Protect Your New Sod With Proper Watering

Water is essential to all life. Too little water leaves us parched, and too much makes us drown. The same is true for our lawns. Water makes up 70% or 80% of the weight of our lawn grasses. Clippings alone are nearly 90% water. Both underwatering and overwatering are risks.

The first watering of your new sod is the most important. Begin watering immediately after installation of the new grass. This first watering establishes how well your grass will perform for years.

Water the new sod within a half hour of it being laid. Apply at least 1 inch of water so that the soil beneath the turf is very wet. Ideally, the soil will be moist up to 4 inches below the surface. Difficult areas such as slopes or under trees will require special attention.

Caring for Your Newly Seeded Lawn

Don't Forget to Actively Water Your Newly Seeded Lawn

New seed requires special care and attention. After grass seed is sown, it should be watered daily for 14 to 21 days to ensure proper germination. You should water approximately 1/8 inch per day. If you aren't able to water your lawn, the seed will not grow properly.

It is important to water even with rain in the forecast. Your lawn could wait for well over a month while awaiting sufficient rain. If the seed doesn't get enough rain, its odds of growing will be reduced.

Follow a regular watering schedule after the seed germinates. If you're concerned about establishing a good watering schedule, talk to us about our automatic water systems. We can install one in your yard temporarily for an additional charge.
